Crew Socks

There is a time and a place for crew socks. There are also some people who simply shouldn’t wear them. Here are our tips for understanding the crew sock, and also for crew sock etiquette:
The crew sock is the most commonly worn type of sock. It is usually considered the typical ‘athletic sock’ and extends about 6 inches past the ankle. The crew sock is a bit like the ‘default’ of the sock world – you can wear them for any leisure activity.
But please, only for leisure activities! The sight of a white crew sock with a suit or other formal outfit is a crime against the sock. Your fashion faux pas will damage the reputation of the humble crew sock, so please, with formal wear only wear dress socks.
If you are wearing flip-flops or sandals, please leave the crew sock at home. Socks and sandals are a no-no: If your feet are cold enough for socks, they are cold enough for shoes.
Crew socks are perfect for walking, hiking, running, or relaxing in front of the TV. However, crew socks should be used with caution by people who suffer from diabetes, endema (swelling of the foot and leg) or other circulatory problems. The elastic in crew socks constrict the meatiest part of the calf, and can cut off effective blood flow in susceptible folk. Wear a crew sock only after consultation with your doctor.
Finally, no matter how comfortable your crew socks may be, they should never be worn during intimate moments – gentleman, we’re talking to you now. A pair of legs wearing nothing but crew socks looks a little silly, so make sure that they are the first thing to be taken off.
